The port of Essaouira is one of the most spectacular and lively places in the city, especially when the fishermen return. Imagine the scenery: there are dozens of trawlers in the shipyard and many blue wooden boats moored in tight rows in the large harbour basin.
The fishermen deliver and trade their freshly caught fish and seafood on the quay, and there are countless seagulls and gulls arriving by the hundreds to feast on the leftovers all around the auction!

A few kilometres from Essaouira, you will find cooperatives run by women who work the fruit of the argan tree to produce certified organic edible or cosmetic oil. This miraculous oil, prized by top chefs and cosmetic laboratories alike, provides an income for Berber women and their families.
KITESURF

Kitesurfing in Essaouira is a new generation of water sport that has been gaining popularity in recent years. In Morocco, the region of Essaouira has become the flagship destination for lovers of "aerotowboarding" (as we say in French). The city also hosts a stage of the Kitesurfing World Cup (KPWT). Its very active clubs train the children of the region, some of whom are destined to become real champions.
